Most people spend years learning maths, reading and writing, but very little time learning how people work. Yet understanding people is one of the things we use most often in everyday life.

Every friendship, disagreement, group project, sporting team, classroom discussion and family conversation depends on it. This course gives students the chance to explore these ideas in practice.

Over three highly interactive days, students step directly into making real screen scenes while discovering something much bigger: how they are seen.
How they might change.
And how different choices shift the way they come across to others.

Because the better we understand people, situations and ourselves, the more choices we have in how we show up in the world.

Superpowered Screen Acting for Grades 6-8 develops these skills through experience. Students don't spend three days listening to principles and theory. They learn by participating, trying, observing, experimenting, making mistakes, reflecting, and by trying again.

Most leadership programs focus on telling students what good leaders do. And they're often taught in short presentations, where the students passively listen. 

At Leadership League, we're interested in helping students understand what's happening underneath - why people behave the way they do, how groups form, how influence works, why communication succeeds or fails. We help them learn how confidence is created and how misunderstandings happen. We help them consider what makes people trust, cooperate, contribute, resist, connect or disengage.

And where we're different is that we get them doing and experiencing so they can develop their expressive skills in real terms. 

Along the way, students begin to discover something important:

There isn't one fixed way to be, but there are rules, patterns and laws of communicating that can help to guide the way.

Different situations call for different responses. The way you speak to a friend isn't necessarily the way you speak to a teacher. The way you contribute to a team isn't necessarily the way you handle a disagreement. The most effective people aren't always the loudest, funniest, smartest or most confident. They're often the people who can read what's happening around them and know how to adapt.

That's one of the central ideas we explore at Leadership League, and we give them the key to mastering this kind of dynamism.

At Leadership League, our tutors aren't simply activity supervisors.

They are experienced educators and practising professionals with deep expertise in communication, leadership, performance, acting and human behaviour.

Our tutors are graduates of the National Institute of Dramatic Art Acting degree, and also hold supplementary qualifications across a range of industries including education, business, law and allied health.

Collectively, our teaching team has worked with thousands of young people, over more than 20 years. 

Our senior teachers have teaching qualifications and are registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Everyone on our team has a Working With Children Check, First Aid certificates and insurance.
